Meet your host.

Julie is the owner of the Chanticleer Inn along with her husband, Johnny. As a team, they are the interim innkeepers when new staff is being trained — a wonderful opportunity to meet with many of the long-term guests who have made Chanticleer a special place for decades.

When not acting as interim innkeeper, Julie is an award-winning writer of books for young people and adults, and her novels can be enjoyed (and purchased!) at the inn. Johnny is a consultant and the owner of a safety management firm, though around the inn and gardens you will mostly see him fixing sprinklers. They also love travel and wine! This picture hails from a recent trip to Spain which featured a trip to the La Rioja region and Galicia. The Rogue Valley wine scene is on the rise, and you can expect to find many fine local wines for purchase in the inn, as well as upcoming wine-focused events.

Their love of Ashland and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival led to their purchase of the inn in August of 2019, and since then, they have fallen even more in love with the area — and the people, who are resilient, engaged, and kind.
